OVERVIEW
Private Moon is a network-connected light installation that automatically displays the current moon phase using the Timeline Weather API and MQTT connection. It offers a captivating experience by showcasing the real-time moon phase. Additionally, the installation is linked to a website, allowing users to choose any date and view the moon phase at that moment.
CONCEPT
The concept for this project draws inspiration from the beloved picture book "The Moon Forgot" by Jimmy Liao. One plot of the story is about the mysterious disappearance of the moon, leading humans to craft and sell their own moons in shops, resulting in every household adorned with a personal moon.
Private Moon project is intended to evoke the sentiment of missing the moon, a cherished symbol in Chinese culture. Amidst the towering buildings of New York City, I want the installation to recreate the lunar magic.
